Officers at all times. The applicable safety rules of the, MRGC, Montrose Rod and Gun Club (listed overleaf) will be in effect at all times and will be augmented by range commands as issued by the official in charge of the firing line. Actions will remain open at all times on rifles being handled during match. Magazines and clips will be empty except when on the line and under a firing command.
Practice and Sight In: Practice and sight in will be conducted before and during the match. Participants will be required to follow all range commands. There will be no firing on targets other than swingers after the start of the match.

Shooting Position: Rifle shooters will shoot (only) from a seated position from benches and stools provided by the club. The rifle must be rested against the shoulder with no artificial rear support. The fore end of the rifle may be supported by a bipod, sandbags, or bull bags which the shooter must provide. Adjustable front rests are not permitted. Pistol shooters must from the bench with the same support restrictions .(No Creedmore positions.)
 
Range Commands and Shooters Actions During The Course Of Fire
   

  1. " Shooters to the line, you may handle you weapons" Shooters not currently on the line may move their equipment to the line and set up weapons in a safe manner. Shooters already on the line may make adjustments to sights or supports. Actions remain open.
  2. " For 15 Seconds load." Shooters may load clips or magazines or single rounds of ammunition into their weapons and close the actions.  Shooters are encouraged to load one round at a time to prevent magazine or clip malfunction.
  3. " For 2 1/2 minutes fire " Shooters may commence firing . Shooters must shoot their targets from left to right. Only 1 shot is allowed per target. If the intended target is hit and knocked off its stand it is considered a hit. If it is missed or hit but not knocked off its stand it is a miss. Should the target be flipped in the air  or fall over and land on its stand it is a miss. Any target shot out of sequence and hit counts as two misses, the proper target and the hit target .Missed out of sequence targets  lose only the missed shot and shooter  may shoot on the correct target. Any shot fired before the fire command is a miss. See also Alibi Rule .
  4. "Cease fire, cease fire, clear and ground your weapons and step back from the line" Any shot fired after the first cease fire is a miss. Upon hearing this command the shooter will cease fire and open the action of their weapons, remove any unfired ammunition and place them on the bench so as to provide visibility to the open action. The shooter will then step  back from the line .Should the shooter encounter any situation where they are unable to comply with the command they must immediately notify the line officer or Match Director  who will stop the match until the shooters weapon is cleared
  5. "Shooters, Change Benches" When this command is  given shooters will move their rifles and equipment  to their next shooting bench and stand behind the bench while targets are being set .
                                                                             
  1. "Target setters out, all target setters out" The Match Director or the Line officer will direct the targets to be reset by the target setters. No handling of weapons will be allowed while target setters are down range.

Alibi Rule: Should any shooter during the course of fire have a target knocked over by wind or a round fired by another shooter they will be granted an alibi. If the shooter has a target still standing that they have missed they can shoot at that target during the regular firing period after declaring which target is an alibi. Should their be no target available on the shooters stand then the shooter must inform the line officer after the cease fire command. The shooter may be offered a target on the opposite facing stands if one is available otherwise one will be
