Objective: To provide a safe target shooting experience that utilizes firearms and life size varmint targets in simulated field conditions. Disclaimer: This shooting discipline is not associated with any silhouette organization, requires no membership and is conducted by the Montrose Rod and Gun Club solely for the enjoyment of the participants. Course Of Fire: Regular Match: Twenty shots ,five each at animal silhouette targets at the following distances: Prairie Dogs at 200 meters, Jack Rabbits at 250 meters, Woodchucks at 300 meters & Coyotes at 375 meters. Championship Match; 10 animals at each distance. Shooters will start on the Prairie Dogs and finish on the Coyotes. Shooters will be assigned a relay number and side, left or right. Relays will be assigned based on sign up order. Shooters will change benches after each 5 shots. Eligible Firearms and Ammunition: All .22 center fire rifles larger than .22 Hornet and all 6MM and .25 caliber cartridges and all silhouette pistols are eligible for competition. Rifles will be divided into two categories Varmint and Hunter. Varmint rifles have no restrictions other than caliber. Hunter rifles cannot have a barrel diameter of greater than .675 measured at the muzzle. All FMJ (full metal jacketed) and AP (armor piercing) types of ammunition are prohibited from competition to prevent target damage. Eligibility and Classifications: Participants must be 18 or older or accompanied by an adult.. Varmint rifle category participants may enter Open, Senior, Ladies, or Juniors divisions. Shooters are assumed to be participating in the Open division unless they declare for some other division for which they are eligible. Senior division is 65 and older. Hunter category has no divisions and all participants compete in a single division. Any participant may use a Hunter rifle to shoot in any Varmint category for which they would be eligible with a Varmint rifle. Multiple Entry: A participant may choose to shoot both the Varmint and Hunter categories. Varmint category can be shot using both Varmint and Hunter rifles. Hunter rifle is limited to eligible Hunter rifles.
Match Safety: The match will be under the direction of the Match Director and his Associate Directors or Line
